Bristol Featured at Worldwide ERC in 2016

Bristol continues to take an active leadership role within Worldwide ERC®, the global association for workforce mobility.

Martin Foxwell, Bristol’s Senior Vice President of Global Service Delivery, was a featured speaker and panel moderator at WERC’s Americas Mobility Conference 2016 held in Houston, Texas, May 18-20. The topic was “Aligning Cultures: Mergers, Acquisitions & Spinoffs”.

The panel discussion explored the unique challenges associated with companies going through mergers and acquisitions. Particularly cultural challenges, which are often cited to be the major reason why so many mergers fail to live up to expectations. The panel members discussed their own experiences and offered key insights and advice to manage these challenges, further the aims of global mobility, and to ensure M&A success. Panelists included:

  • Trae Miller, Director of Global Mobility – AECOM ($19B global engineering & construction firm, acquired URS Corporation in 2014)
  • Ginger Merrick, SCRP, SGMS, Senior Consultant – HR&Relo Advisors (Formerly with Coca-Cola Enterprises, acquired by the Coca-Cola Company in 2010)
  • Ed Hannibal, GMS, Partner – Deloitte (Formerly with ORC worldwide, acquired by Mercer in 2010)

The panel was extremely well-attended and the audience members were engaged with asking questions and offering their own experiences, adding to the rich details provided by the panel members. An audience poll revealed that most attendees had experience with the subject themselves, whether on the corporate side, service provider side, or supporting clients as service providers, making for a very lively and educational experience.

Arizona Relocation Alliance – June 23, Phoenix: Reprise of the Merger and Acquisition Discussion

Bristol’s M&A presentation was one of the best-reviewed panels at the WERC Americas Mobility Conference on May 18 in Houston. As a result, Martin was invited to speak to the same topic – solo this time – at the regional WERC meeting in Phoenix on June 23rd. Martin presented the key points raised during the discussion in Houston and engaged the Phoenix audience in their own roundtable discussion around the M&A topic and its implications for global mobility.

Looking Ahead: Worldwide ERC Global Workforce Symposium, Oct 5-7, Washington DC

Bristol is once again on the 2016 WERC Global Task Force, planning the full agenda for the upcoming Global Workforce Symposium, WERC’s flagship international conference which will take place in Washington, DC in October. Bristol is featured on the agenda again, and the topic at the fall meeting will be “Global Mobility Policies – The State of the Art”. In this workshop, Martin Foxwell and his expert panel will outline the main policy approaches and best practices used by multinational companies in 2016, including the traditional balance sheet approach and to whom it applies, and the major alternative approaches including the following:

  • Core/Flex policies
  • Intra-regional
  • Rotational
  • Short-term and more
