Bristol Connection: Katie Garcia

Katie is a Senior Mobility Advisor in Bristol's Dallas office. As a Mobility Advisor, Katie is the relocating employees' primary contact, connecting with them and assisting them navigate through the entire relocation process.

What do you like to do in your time away from Bristol?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; however, I also really enjoy shopping and going to the movies.

What is your favorite movie quote?

“Oh yes, the past can hurt. But, you can either run from it or, learn from it.” – The Lion King

If you could have dinner with anyone from history who is no longer living, who would it be and why?

I know I am supposed to pick someone cliché like JFK or Princess Diana or Mother Teresa… but honestly, if I could have dinner with only 1 person who is no longer living it would be my Dad. He was an amazing man and I miss him so much! Just having one more dinner with him would mean the world to me!

What do you like best about working at Bristol?

The people I work with every day!! The Bristol culture is so different from other companies I’ve worked for and it all comes down to my coworker’s core values that they encompass each day that makes my job so enjoyable! I truly believe the “grass is greener” at Bristol!

If you could have anyone play you in a movie about your life, who would you want to portray you?

Reese Witherspoon because she is just too cute! I love her personality and style! I think she’d be good at playing “me” in a movie!

In one word, how would you describe Bristol’s culture?

Dynamic

If you could be a cartoon character for a week, who would you be?

Wonder Woman because she is a can-do kind of woman!!

Do you have pets?  If so, if you could ask your pet 3 questions and they could answer you, what would you ask them?

Yes, my dog named, Jack and I’d ask him…

  1. Are you happy?
  2. Do I cuddle you too much?
  3. Does your bad breath bother you as much as it bothers me? LOL!

How do you feel you “connect versus control” with others?

I’ve always been the kind of person that wants to be able to relate to someone and enjoys finding solutions to help people. I always thought I would be a psychologist because of my natural instincts to help others. The good thing is… even though I had NO idea what relocation was when I accepted my first job out of college… I am able to use my skill set to listen and help others find solutions to their problems all day long as a Mobility Advisor! I think once you can find a commonality with people (whether that be through sports, restaurants, music, or personal life experiences) it helps you “connect” and bond with them so you become more “real” to their relocation experience instead of just a person on the phone. And usually, all it takes is for you to listen to them to connect, which can be hard when you’re super busy (I admit!), but it makes all the difference in your customer service to that person and they will remember that you were there for them during a difficult time of their lives! J

Trekkie or Star Wars forever?

EEKS! Neither. I’ve never been a fan.

Who is someone you admire and why?

My Mom. She is so resilient through adversity and just kind to her core. She sacrifices so much for others and is always willing to help people. I can always count on her to be there for me, no matter what! She really is my mentor and my best friend.
